Graduation time is upon us here at Menaul School. The Upper School students have returned from their Mission trips and are busily preparing for finals. The seniors are excited about the arrival of college acceptance letters and anxiously anticipate the beginning of their lives as adults. One such student is Eric Nyase, a senior who comes from Ghana, Africa. Eric plays the trumpet and piano for both the Albuquerque Youth Symphony and Menaul School’s Jazz Band. He is also Menaul School’s Student Body President and a Youth Deacon with Covenant Presbyterian Church. A 4.0 grade point average student, Eric was a National Merit Scholarship finalist and plans to attend medical school with ambitions of becoming a neurologist. Eric was accepted at eight prestigious universities and has decided on Brown University in Rhode Island.
Here at Menaul School, we are very proud of our 2016 graduating class. Twenty-seven seniors will receive their diplomas next month and all twenty-seven will be attending college in the fall. Many of our graduates will be attending some of the country’s most prestigious universities and colleges such as Stanford, Marquette, Temple, Tulane, Columbia, John Hopkins, and Purdue.
Graduation time at Menaul School is a time of many traditions. Menaul School Honors will be awarded on May 18th at 6:00 pm in the Gymnasium. Our 8th Grade Right of Passage ceremony will be held on May 26th in the Auditorium from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm. The Baccalaureate is on May 27th at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Graduation will take place in Hart Park (on campus) on May 28th at 10:00 am. We invite you to join us in celebrating our students and their successes!
We are also excited about hosting our annual Golden Graduation Celebration! Every year we host the 50 year reunion for our Golden Graduates. This year we will be welcoming the Class of 1966. On May 26th, we kick-off the weekend with a Meet-and-Greet reception at 6:00 pm in Old Brick Commons. On May 27th, the Golden Grads will meet the Class of 2016, at 11:00 am (also in Old Brick Commons). This is always a special event that is enjoyed by both the Golden Grads and the seniors. Head of School, Lindsey Gilbert, and his wife Laurie will host a reception at their Cottage on May 27th, from 4:30 – 6:00 followed by Baccalaureate at Shepherd of the Valley Church. Finally, on Saturday, May 28th, our Golden Grads will lead the procession into the Commencement ceremony. Golden Grads, Class of 1966, can RSVP to Maggie Beck at MBeck@nullMenaulSchool.com or (505) 341-7220. Come join in the celebration and visit with your Menaul School friends!
