Mary Eisenhower, President and Chief Executive Officer of People to People International and granddaughter of Dwight Eisenhower, the 35th President of the United States, visited Menaul School on Monday, May 15th 2017.

People to People International (PTPI) was established on September 11, 1956, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

(Mary) Eisenhower has been awarded the Knight of Peace Award from the International University in Assisi, Italy. She also holds Honorary Doctorates in Humane Letters from Schiller International University, Park University and William Jewell College. She also holds an Honorary Doctorate in Law from York College, in York, Nebraska. She was awarded the Medal of Honor from the Slovak Republic as well as Friendship Ambassador from the People’s Republic of China. – Wikipedia

During her visit to Menaul School, Ms. Eisenhower met with the Head of School, Upper School Director, International Programs Coordinator, and a representative of the Menaul School board of trustees, regarding a Menaul School Global Leadership Academy. The conversation included the vision, goals, curriculum, and a potential partnership between PTPI and Menaul School. Ms. Eisenhower also observed a Capstone presentation by Menaul School senior, Bibu Subedi; Aquaponics for Sustainable Community.

Ms. Eisenhower said that she “loved every minute at Menaul School, and that she is very excited about future collaborations.” The People to People International / Jr. Civitan presentation made her very proud; she was very surprised to be included in senior Capstone presentations. Ms. Eisenhower is looking forward to visiting Menaul School again next year.
