International School Partnership Coordinator
Christopher Ferrara is originally from New York, but as part of a restless family he has lived in Maryland, California, Kansas, Florida, and China before arriving in New Mexico in 2014.
After an initial start in Biology, he switched his major to History to the great disappointment of legion undiscovered species of cnidarians.
Upon completion of his studies at the University of North Florida, he moved to China and taught English as a Second Language at Luoyang Normal University in the city of Luoyang, Henan province for five years. At LYNU, Chris was voted “Best Teacher” among a faculty of more than 1,200 two years in a row! The school found this so interesting they decided to split the contest into two categories, “Best Teacher” and “Best Foreign Teacher.” Chris was then voted, “Best Foreign Teacher” two years in a row from among a faculty of three foreign teachers, great job!
During his time in China, Chris was fortunate enough to marry his lovely wife, Xiao Xiao, and to become a proud father of his two young girls, Eris and Ceres.
In addition to teaching Intermediate and Advanced ESL and ESL Science, Chris is in charge of Menaul School’s homestay program, connecting students in need of support with local families.
