International Programs Coordinator
Born and growing up near Washington, D.C., Jonathan spent his formative years being surrounded by people from many cultures. Early on he developed a love for reading and exploration, with a special attraction to history, language, and culture. While earning his Bachelor’s degree in Cross Cultural Studies, Jonathan did a one year internship as an English teacher at the Beijing Huijia Private College. This experience would serve to be the catalyst for his pursuit of a career in international education abroad, and specifically in China.
After completing his degree, Jonathan married his wife Alyssa, who shares his passion for international education and helping others. They spent the next ten years working at the International School of Qingdao in Qingdao, China. While in China, Jonathan continued to pursue growth as an educator and completed a Master’s Degree of Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. In 2013, he moved his family to Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA and joined the Menaul School community in 2014 as the International Programs Coordinator. Currently, Jonathan provides oversight and guidance for the various global initiatives and student development programs which serve the diverse student population at Menaul School campuses worldwide.
With more than 15 years of experience in teaching and administration at international schools abroad, Jonathan has a rich and multifaceted background as an educator. He has taught a broad range of subjects, including World and US History, Biblical Literature, Philosophy, Religion, Ethics, Communications, and Leadership. He has also spent several seasons coaching boys and girls basketball and volleyball. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, reading, playing baseball and basketball, playing guitar, studying history and language, watching movies, and playing games with his kids. More than anything, his heart is to serve and inspire others- first his family, then students- to grow in knowledge, hope, purpose, and joy in life.
