Contact: Katherine vanGoidtsnoven de Torres
But around Menaul she’ll be known as Ms. Torres! Ms. Torres is excited to be teaching courses in Conceptual Physics, Chemistry and a new Ethnobotany science elective. She begins her tenure at Menaul School after a long career in international education, one that took her from the Orinoco river basin through the deserts of North Africa and the Middle East, to the foot hills of the Himalayas, the top of Mount Etna and the bottom of the Taroko Gorge.
Katherine is a mother, a teacher, a student, and a child of the world. She was born in a small oil company town in the heart of Venezuela and began her international travels at the tender age of 40 days with her first trip to the United States. She is bi-cultural and bilingual, half Venezuelan and half American, and comes from a long line of multicultural world travelers and adventurers.
Katherine originally came to New Mexico in the late 70’s to attend New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Geology. She later earned a degree in secondary science and math education, a master’s in International Education, and a certificate of International school leadership. She recently returned to New Mexico to re-connect with this beautiful land and put down roots. Katherine is delighted to be here, and eager to expose young minds to the wonders of this planet.
