Instrumental Music
We are grateful to be able to welcome a veteran instrumental music instructor like Rusty Briel to the Menaul School. Rusty joins the Menaul School community as our new Instrumental Music Teacher for both the Middle and Upper School.
Rusty and his wife relocated to Albuquerque from Indianapolis, Indiana, two years ago. He has twenty-three years of experience as a music educator. His teaching experience ranges from grade 5 to 12 in band, orchestra, music theory, and music history. Rusty most recently served as the band, orchestra, mariachi, and introductory music instructor at Harrison Middle School for the Albuquerque Public Schools.
In addition to music instruction, Rusty served for 15 years as the Executive Director for the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA). While with the ISSMA, a major portion of Rusty’s responsibilities centered on the study and research of the assessment process, with the goal of developing greater academic focus on the music ensemble curriculum.
