Menaul’s Upper School Volleyball program got a shot in the arm with the hiring of Nia Kiggundu as head coach for the 2013 season. Nia comes to Menaul with a lifetime of experience in volleyball with 20 years of experience as a player and 16 years of experience as a coach.
A graduate of West Mesa High School here in Albuquerque, Nia went on to play volleyball at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette – a Division 1 school – and is now very active in club volleyball in Albuquerque and the Southwest. Nia is a certified coach with the USA Volleyball Association.
Coach Kiggundu and her staff are working hard to return the Menaul Volleyball program to a level similar to that of our 1992 team when we went 19 – 4 and finished second in the AA State Tournament.

About Coach Nia Kiggundu:
I have been coaching volleyball for over 15 years with middle school, high school and club athletes. I started playing volleyball in middle school, and found out how much I loved the sport. In high school I was on varsity all 4 years, won 4 state championships and was fortunate to be part of a volleyball dynasty that finished with a record of 118-0, in all four years combined. I played Division I collegiate volleyball at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and while there set 6 school records, 1 NCAA record and was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.
It is because of the hard work and dedication that I excelled in the sport and this has been the driving force behind my passion for coaching. I enjoy teaching the skills and working with athletes at all levels. I am entering my second year of coaching Varsity at Menaul and I am looking forward to building a program where the athletes learn the values of teamwork, are inspired to achieve more every day, can be competitive, can develop leadership skills and possess a winning attitude.
I am looking forward to working with the new athletes this year as well as the returning athletes from last year. If you would like to find out more information about our volleyball program and would like to join the Panther family, please feel free to give me a call at 505-850-6244. You can also
