Dear Menaul School Families,

In light of Governor Lujan Grisham’s announcement that in order to protect New Mexican citizens, classes are over for the school year, I want to be clear that Menaul School New Normal is ready to educate your child in mind, body, and spirit – virtually.

It is harder, for sure, in these times of physical distancing and social isolation, but our faculty, staff, and administration are working thoughtfully and creatively on how to ensure that this next term is productive, full of learning and spiritual growth.

Our first two weeks of online learning has been largely successful. Over 95% of students are positively engaged.

In a traditional sense, it cannot be the dynamic, interactive school experience, which we do well. We are all grieving that loss, but we will continue to adapt to ensure Menaul School students stay current with their learning.

Here are a few features we look to incorporate next term:

  • More face-to-face interaction
  • Regular advisory check-ins
  • Large group remote meetings

We understand that the Public Education Department is closing public school through the end of the year. Although we will always choose the side of student health and safety, we are also ready to be nimble should anything shift to indicate it is safe to reopen campus.

We are exploring scenarios and schedules for the great class of 2020 and the Menaul School community to celebrate commencement this year. More information to come.

We look forward to being together as a community as soon as it is safe to do so. Until then, stay focused, make a reasonable schedule for yourself, and learn new discipline and strategies as we thrive in the New Menaul School Normal.
