Menaul Athletics‘ Winter Sports are close to wrapping up. Here’s a summary of last week’s action in this week’s On the Prowl (Panther Athletics – Week 8)!

Menaul boys hoops go 1-1 on the week

The Panther boys basketball team got in two of the four games planned this past weekend, going 1-1 after games against Estancia and the Academy for Technology and the Classics of Santa Fe were canceled.

The Panthers won in dominating fashion on Senior Night on Monday, April 26, drubbing Tierra Encantada 72-32. The Panthers held the Scorpions to single digits in the first and second quarter to race to a 35-9 halftime lead. Menaul scored 22 points in the second quarter and equaled that feat in the fourth quarter for the runaway win.

Unfortunately, that momentum did not hold on Thursday. The Panthers played at Monte del Sol in Santa Fe and fell 52-48 in a close, hard-fought game. The Dragons outscored Menaul 14-13 in the first quarter and edged their way to a 28-25 halftime lead. MDSC led 40-25 after the quarters and held off a determined Panther comeback in the fourth quarter to claim the win.

Menaul stands at 2-2, 1-1 in District 2-2A with one game remaining in the regular season.

On Senior Night at home Monday night, Menaul dominated, holding TECS to single-digit scoring in every quarter on their way to a 60-15 victory. The Panthers scored 19 points in the opening quarter and 20 in the third quarter for the lopsided win.

On Wednesday, against an undefeated ATATC squad, Menaul found the going a bit rougher, falling 39-20 in Santa Fe. ATATC is currently 11-0, with one game remaining in the regular season.

The Panthers bounced back in a big way on Thursday, ripping Monte del Sol 41-18 in Santa Fe. Menaul held the Dragons to 3 points in the first half, taking a 22-3 halftime lead, and never looked back.
