My Story

My name is Yuwen Cheng, and I was born and raised in Chongqing, China. Chongqing is a city best known for its fiery hot pot and 3D magic terrain. Spicy food and delicious cuisine is what I am crazy for. It would be a treat to teach Chinese cooking to Menaul School students.

I got my Bachelor’s in English Language and Literature from Sichuan International Studies University in China and obtained my Master’s in TESOL from the University of Bath in the UK.

Living and studying in the UK provided me with a lot of time to travel around Europe. My travels included France, Italy, and Switzerland during the holidays, which broadened my international horizon and enriched my cultural knowledge. I have plenty of interesting stories as well as a positive life attitude to share with my students.

My husband has lived in Albuquerque for over 10 years, while I moved to Albuquerque in 2019. He helped me adapt to the lifestyle and pace of Albuquerque quickly.

Furthermore, we are blessed to have a cute dog as an addition to our family. We named him Mecho; a combination of my husband’s name, Mo, and my English nickname, Echo. Mecho is like our first child and brings a lot of laughter and joy to us.

Why Menaul?

Just like most foreign students at Menaul who have complicated intercultural backgrounds, I immigrated to the United States from China in 2020. I feel honored with this opportunity and appreciate being part of this community where it respects diversity and uniqueness in everything in the world. Most importantly, my educational values are highly compatible with Menaul`s.

We encourage students to foster life-long learning through open-mind understanding, intellectual curiosity, and free inquiry for living in this ever-changing world.

I am all set to attribute my enthusiasm for education and to meet more adventures in the future at Menaul.

Ms. Cheng
