After a two-week stoppage of play for health concerns, Menaul School Athletics is back next week!  We have the full rundown of the happenings from this past week, as well as what’s upcoming in this week’s On the Prowl (Panther Athletics – Week 7)!

Four Panther football players named to All-State team

Four players from the Panther football squad were named to the New Mexico 80man Football All-State list this past week.

Sophomore James A. was named to the 8-Man All-State Offensive first team for his play at offensive lineman for Menaul, which finished the season 1-3.

Senior Miguel R. snagged a pair of honors. Miguel was named to All-State Defensive second team for his play at outside linebacker and was honorable mention on offense as a receiver.

Sophomore Garret L. made the All-State Defensive team as a defensive end, while junior Ashton T. made the honorable mention list as a defensive secondary player.

Congrats to Miguel, James, Garret and Ashton! Panther Nation is proud of you!

Menaul Upper School boys and girls back on the court

The Panther boys basketball team and Panther girls basketball team return from a two-week hiatus with a flurry of activity next week. Both teams were forced into a hiatus due to COVID protocols the last two weeks.

As a result, Menaul athletic director Gary Boatman was forced to try and reschedule as many games as possible before May 1, when the current shortened regular season is due to end. So both squads will play five games in six days. Currently, the Panther boys are 1-1 while the Panther girls are 0-3. Neither team had played a district game before the hiatus. All five games next week will be District 2-2A matchups.
