Panther Connection – October 2017

Welcome Home Panthers!

Menaul School welcomed Alumni and their families back for Homecoming on October 21stJC PC22nd.  The weekend began with a beautiful coronation ceremony where past Kings, Queens, and Football Captains were recognized and Levi Ivey ‘19 and Christine Gleicher ‘18 were crowned this year’s King and Queen. After Coronation, students and staff joined their families and many Alumni for a barbecue and bonfire.

On Saturday, the day began with the blessing and dedication of the Collie Refectory. Donors, supporters, families, and alumni gathered together to witness the ribbon cutting and enjoy breakfast and camaraderie in the newly renovated space. They marveled over the beautiful new tables handcrafted by Amarante Vasquez ’77. A huge thank you goes out to everyone who contributed to the project.

The volleyball team played their first ever Homecoming game, beating the Jemez Valley Q and KWarriors 3-0. In the afternoon, the Panther football team played an exciting game against the Alamo Navajo Cougars! During halftime, the Homecoming Court was introduced to the crowd and the 1986-1987 Panther Football Team was inducted into the Panther Hall of Fame. Two long-time supporters of Menaul School – Trancito Romero and Bob Romero – were given the title of Honorary Alumni by the Menaul Allison James International Alumni Association, a plaque was presented to the architect behind the Victory Bell stand, and the returning decades classes of 1957, 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997, and 2007 were recognized. The football team returned to the field and defeated the Cougars 50-0!

We are honored to welcome home so many Alumni, along with their families and the families of our students!
