Middle School Director
Julie is delighted to be at the helm of Menaul’s new vision for the Middle School, providing a progressive and developmentally appropriate education for middle grade students.
Julie relocated to Albuquerque from Princeton, NJ, with her husband, Shashank, and their two cats in 2013, joining Menaul School on the same year. For the previous eight years, Julie taught Upper School Science – Biology, Environmental Science, Marine Science, and Forensic Science – at The Hun School of Princeton. During that time, she was also a resident faculty member in the school’s boarding program. From 2010 to 2012, Julie was the Ninth Grade Dean at the school, working on developing advisory curriculum and school-wide special events and service learning opportunities for freshmen and building a stronger and more welcoming school culture. She has also been assistant director of several theatrical productions, community service co-coordinator, student council advisor, honor council advisor, and faculty advisor to the Knitting and Environmental Clubs. One focus of her recent work has been developing opportunities for student leadership and helping students to build their leadership skills through work in those positions.
Julie loves being outdoors and is excited to get to know more about New Mexico plants and wildlife, in addition to cooking, knitting and gardening.
